Utopia

May, 2016 Ordos, Kangbashi - China

For the construction of a successful city, it is necessary to have a good urban planning and then you have to attract people to come over and live there. But you also have to build infrastructures to house people, to lodge their jobs and to allow them to have their daily lives.

This is a reality of Ordos/Kangbashi, Inner Mongolia, China – a city that was built in 2004, planned to house a million people and it is now practically in a “coma" state – there is still a reduced number of people living there.  A disturbing silence and an uncomfortable tranquility characterize the city. Museums, libraries, theatres, governmental buildings and parks fill a major part of Ordos. The avenues have two kilometers and the roads are 40 meters wide.
