Juvenile Delinquency

Life After Crime - April, 2015 Lisbon

Many young people drop out of school. Without an occupation they are pushed to the margins which plunge them to delinquency. Social exclusion, domestic violence and robberies led some young teenagers to the Educational Center of Belavista, in Lisbon – a social institution for young people between 14 and 21 years old.

The centre aims at improving their behavior, enhancing their sense of responsibility, giving them some rules, but also a daily routine in a place where they can learn by living together, playing sport and getting professional training. At the end of their time in the center, they have two ways: being pushed again to the margins or beginning a new life.
